Re: Permissive Use to Construct
Electric Substation in Sec-
tion, 1- 42 -42, PB County
Gentlemen:
rL

Florida Power & Light Company recently has purchased an elec-
tric distribution substation site from Royal American Indus-
tries, Inc. in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The
site is located on the north side of Monet Road, 1/2 mile
west of Military Trail, and is more particularly described
as:
The north 230 feet of the south 280 feet
of the east 200 feet of the west 250 feet
of Section 1, Township 42 South, Range 42
East, in the City of Palm Beach Gardens,
Palm Beach County, Florida.
The increasing demand for electricity in the City of Palm
Beach Gardens area makels it mandatory that we establish a
substation in the area to assure good continuity of service.
The present load of 7,000 Kva will be increased to approxi-
mately 11,400 Kva by next winter. Present facilities will
not be adequate to serve this load; therefore, by this letter,
we are requesting permissive use to utilize this site for the
purpose for which it was purchased.

Dear Mr. Miller:
We wrote a letter today to the City Council of the City of
Palm Beach Gardens requesting a zoning variance on a parcel of
land 200' x 230' in Section 1, Township 42 South, Range 42 East,
This area contains 1. 056 acres, more or less.
This letter is written to advise you that it is our intention,
when we construct our proposed substation there, that we will
appropriately landscape this property so it will be a credit to the
City. We also plan to construct a small utility building, about
12' x 161, which will also be architecturally in keeping.
I trust this zoning variance will be forthcoming as this
area is growing at an extremely rapid pace and the expansion at
RCA, which is in progress, will add considerably to the need for
our electric facilities.
Sincerely yours,
R Hil
