HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 070166CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COUNCIL July 1, 1966 SPECIAL MEETING The Mayor called a Special Meeting of the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens. It was held at 7:30 P.M., Friday, July 1, 1966, in the City Hall at 10128 Meridian Way, Meridian Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. QUORUM Mayor Jackson called the roll. All Councilmen were present except Councilman Dela Court. PURPOSE OF THE The meeting was called to enact emergency measures for street re- MEETING pairs, and the hiring of K. C. Mock & Associates as City Engineers. Further, the Council authorized Florida Power & Light Co., West Palm Beach, .Florida, to install four sample street lights on Lighthouse Dr, and Aster Street. CITY ENGINEER Motion by Councilman Bonner that the City hire K. C. Mock & Associates K. C. MOCK & ASSOC. as City Engineer. Seconded by Councilman Hughes. On the discussion of the motion, it was determined that the compensation would be on an hourly rate. The Attorney advised the Council there would have to be a Resolution passed at the next regular meeting, July 11, 1966, appointing K. C. Mock & Associates as City Engineer. Mayor Jackson called for the question. The vote was 4 -0 in favor of the motion. EMERGENCY REPAIRS A lengthy discussion took place by the Council and Mr. Searcy, a BY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT representative of K. C. Mock & Associates, relative to the problems that had developed due to the excessive rain and its effect upon the paved streets of the City. The Mayor, having no objections, authorized Councilman Bonner to proceed with emergency repairs to the streets that presented the greatest problem. Minutes of July 1, 1966 Page 2 AUTHORIZATION TO Mayor Jackson reported to the Council that the Street Light Program FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT FOR INSTALLATION OF had been revised and that he and the Clerk had met with Mr. Hutchison, FOUR STREET LIGHTS of Florida Power & Light, and reviewed the entire schedule of changes, and he felt that everything was in order with the Council's original study. Mayor Jackson stated that in his opinion, it would be in order to install four sample street lights on Lighthouse Drive and Astor Street of the City. There being no objection to the Mayor's sug- gestion, the Mayor then directed the Clerk to authorize Florida Power & Light to install the lights. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the meeting, the Mayor adjourned the meeting at 9:35 P.M.
