HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 100766CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL October 7, 1966 SPECIAL MEETING Mayor Jackson called for a Special Meeting to be held at City Hall, 10128 Meridian Way, Meridian Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at 6:30 P.M., October 7, 1966. QUORUM Mayor Jackson presided and directed the Clerk to call the roll. All Councilmen were present except Councilman Bonner. PURPOSE OF THE MEETING The meeting was called for the purpose of accepting the 1966 Tax Roll from the Tax Assessor, and to approve P.O. #37 and P.O. #38 for the purchase of the bid items of two Police cruisers and a Public Works canal boat. PRESENTATION OF TAX ROLL Bryan A. Poston, City Tax Assessor, presented the Tax Roll AND AFFIDAVIT OF ASSESSOR that is contained in the metal cabinets at City Hall, 10128 Meridian Way, Meridian Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and also executed an affidavit of City Assessor of Taxes in and for the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, which is attached hereto. ACCEPTANCE OF TAX ROLL Motion by Councilman Hughes that the Tax Roll be adopted as BY COUNCIL presented by the Tax Assessor, and in accordance with the affidavit, signed by the Assessor. The motion was secon- ded by Vice Mayor Diamond. On the discussion of the motion, Mayor Jackson recognized Mr. Tony Silva, who represented himself to be the Tax Officer for Bankers Life & Casualty Company and Royal American Industries, Inc. He submitted to the Council two letters, one each from the above com- panies, in protest to assessment of certain lands owned Minutes of Special Meeting, Oct. 7, 1966 Page 2 by them and that are presently assessed on the 1966 Roll. Mayor Jackson directed the Clerk to attach these letters to the minutes. Mayor Jackson called for a vote on the motion. Vote was 4 -0 in favor of the motion. Councilman Bonner was absent. SETTING OF DATE FOR Motion by Councilman Dela Court, seconded by Councilman BOARD OF DQUALIZ ON MEETING Diamond that the City Council sit as a Board of Equali- zation, Saturday, October 22, 1966, at City Hall, 10128 Meridian Way, Meridian Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Vote was 4 -0 in favor of the motion. Councilman Bonner was absent. P.O. #37 Motion by Councilman Hughes, seconded by Councilman Diamond, FOR PURCHASE OF PUBLIC WORKS CANAL JJUAI TIAD that P.O. #37 for the purchase of a Public Works canal boat EQUIPMFIVT FROM TU N'S from Tuppen's in the amount of $999.00, be approved by the Council. Vote was 4 -0 in favor of the motion. Council- P.O. #38 FOR PURCHASE OF TWO POLICE CRUISERS FROM HEYWOOD MERCER, INC man Bonner was absent. Motion by Councilman Diamond, seconded by Councilman Hughes, that P.O. #38 for the purchase of two Police cruisers from Heywood Mercer, Inc. in the amount of $3,869.00 plus the trade -in of the 1966 Ford, be approved by the Council. Vote was 4 -0 in favor of the motion. Councilman Bonner was absent. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Councilman Hughes, seconded by Councilman Dia- mond, that the meeting be adjourned at 6:55 P.M.
