MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
February 24, 1965
SPECIAL MEETING: Upon call of the Vice Mayor, a special meeting of the City
Council of Palm Beach Gardens was held at 10:00 A.M., on Wednesday,
February 24, 1965, at the municipal offices of said City, 1001 Park
Avenue, Lake Park, Florida.
UORUM: The Vice Mayor announced that a quorum of the City Council was
present.
GENERAL ELECTION There was a general discussion of the procedures to be used in

MARCH 162, 1965; the general election to be held in the City of Palm Beach Gardens,
APPOINTMENT OF
ELECTION SUPER- Florida, on Tuesday, March 16, 1965, at which two (2) City Councilmen
VISORS, ELECTION
CLERK AND POLICE will be elected. The Vice Mayor reminded the Council that it was

BALLOT; necessary to appoint three (3) election supervisors, one (1) election
BALLOT BOXES;

The following four (4) names were put in nomination for the positions
of election supervisor and election clerk: Mrs. Maude S. Menten, Mrs.
Dorothy B. Nelson, Mrs. Joyce G. Norley and Mrs. Beatrice S. Rogers.
The City Council was informed that the four nominees were willing to
accept these positions.
Whereupon, the following resolution was duly made, seconded and
unanimously adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Palm Beach
Gardens that Maude S. Menten, Dorothy B. Nelson,
Joyce G. Norley and Beatrice S. Rogers be, and the
same are hereby appointed as supervisors and clerk
for the general election to be held in the City of
Palm Beach Gardens on Tuesday, March 16, 1955.
The City Council discussed the proposed ballot to be used in this
election, and also discussed the necessity for ballot boxes and voting

booths. It authorized City Clerk W. L. Cargill to look into these
matters, and also authorized Mr. Cargill to secure bids on the printing
of the proposed ballot. The City Council also authorized Captain Charles
A. Root to designate one of the police officers from the Palm Beach
Gardens Policy Department to be present at the polling place on
election day.
OATHS OF OFFICE: The oaths of office of Maude S. Menten, Dorothy B. Nelson, Joyce
G. Norley and Beatrice S. Rogers will be attached hereto.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the meeting, upon
motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, it was adjourned.
WAIVER AND
RATIFICATION: By his signature to these minutes, each Councilman hereby waives
notice of this meeting and confirms his affirmative vote to the actions
recorded in these minutes.

office of Inspector of election of the CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA,
upon which we, and each of us, are about to enter; and that we, and each of us,
will perform the duties of Inspector according to law and endeavor to prevent
any fraud, deceit or abuse in conducting the election to be held on Tuesday,
March 16, 1965, so help us God.

at the General Election to be conducted on Tuesday, March 16, 1965, namely,
