HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 102565CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 252 1965 The regular meeting of the City Council was held at the Meridian Park Clubhouse, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday, October 25, 1965, at 8:00 P.M. MEETING CALLED TO Mayor Ted Dela Court called the meeting to order. After ORDER; gUORUM: calling the roll, the City Clerk announced that a quorum of the City Council was present. Councilman James F. Kelleher was absent. MINUTES OF REGULAR The City Clerk read the minutes of the regular meeting of MEETINGS OF SEP- TEMBER 27, 1965 AND September 27, 1965, and Mayor Ted Dela Court read the minutes of OCTOBER 11, the regular meeting of October 11, 1965. Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, these minutes were approved as read. PALM BEACH GARDENS VOLUNTEER FIRE DE- PARTMENT REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER, 1965; RE- PORT OF CIVIL DE- FENSE DIRECTOR ON Councilman Horace S. Miller read the report of the Palm Beach Gardens Volunteer Fire Department for September, 1965, and summarized the report of the Civil Defense Director on Hurricane Betsy. PURCHASE OF AIR The City Council discussed the letter of Civil Defense RAID SIREN: Director Richard W. Denmore, dated October 22, 1965, regarding the purchase of an air raid siren. After further discussion, the following resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: Minutes of Regular Meeting of City Council of October 25, 1965 Page 2 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens that Horace S. Miller, as Police and Fire Commissioner, be, and the same hereby is, authorized and empowered to negotiate for, buy and purchase in the name of the City of Palm Beach Gardens an air raid siren, including the installation thereof, as more fully set forth in the letter dated October 22, 1965, from Civil Defense Director Richard W. Denmore. PALM BEACH GARDENS Councilman Michael E. Jackson reported to the City Council POLICE RESERVE; PROPOSED C14ANGES TO that he had received proposed regulations for the Palm Beach Gardens PALM BEACH GARDENS BUILDING CODE; BEAU- Police Reserve from Captain Charley A. Root. He also reported TIFICATION COMMITTEE; RECREATION ADVISORY that he had received from Building Inspector Robert Keesee some BOARD MEETING: 118 proposed changes to the Palm Beach Gardens Building Code. He reported on an informal meeting of the Beautification Committee and also on a meeting of the Recreation Advisory Board held on September 27, 1965. CITY SIGNS; Mayor Ted Dela Court reported that he had requested art AG(TISITZON OF SEA work for signs for the City of Palm Beach Gardens and that there OF PALM BEACH GARDENS AS A NATIONAL WILD will soon be a presentation of the results. He also reported on LIFE REFUGE: his progress in acquiring sea cows for the City waterways and on the possibility that certain areas of the City would be designated as a national wild life refuge for manatees. CITY COUNCIL AS The City Council announced that it would meet as a Board BOARD OF TAX EgUALIZATION; of Tax Equalization at the City Hall in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, at the following dates and times: November 1, 1965 between 8:00 and 10:00 P.M. November 2, 1965 between 8:00 and 10 :00 P.M. November 3, 1965 between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 Noon.
