MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 1964 QUORUM: MINUTES OF MEETING OF JANUARY 13, 1964: PALM BEACH GARDENS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIA- TION� LETTER TO CITY Y 20, 1%__1 The regular meeting of the City Council was held at 9076 Keating Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday, January 27, 1964, at 10:00 A.M. Mayor Norman Rowland called the meeting to order and an- nounced that a quorum of the City Council was present. The City Clerk read in full the minutes of the meeting of the City Council held on January 13, 1964. It was noted that these minutes were correct with the following exception: The letter from the Palm Beach Gardens Homeowners' Association dated December 10, 1963, will be discussed at the meeting of the City Council to be held on Monday, February 10, 1964, at 8:00 P.M. As so corrected, these minutes were, upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, duly approved. Vice Mayor Horace S. Miller read to the City Council a letter received from the Homeowners` Association dated January 20, 1964. In response to the first item in that letter, namely, fire protection, Mr. Miller pointed out that the City has a Contingency Fund of $5,000.00 which will be used for fire pro- tection as needed. He further stated that the City was in the process of equipping a large pick -up truck with fire equipment, and that this process should be completed within ten days to two weeks at an estimated cost of between $1,200.00 and $1,500.00. APPOINTMENT OF J. RILEY The Mayor advised the Council that it was necessary to GAUVEY AS ASSISTANT CITY TREASURER: appoint someone to the position of Assistant City Treasurer, and that J. Riley Gauvey, who is at present the City Tax Assessor, was well qualified to also hold this position. Whereupon, the following resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, That J. Riley Gauvey be, and the same hereby is, appointed as Assistant City Treasurer of the City of Palm Beach Gardens. OATH OF OFFICE: The Oath of Office of J. Riley Gauvey as Assistant City Treasurer, is attached hereto. FLORIDA LEAGUE OF MUNI- Vice Mayor Miller read to the Council a letter from the CIPALITIES; LETTER OF JANUAKY v Florida League of Municipalities dated January 20, 1964. i This letter concerns the relationship of municipalities to Volunteer Fire Departments, and requests the assistance of every municipality in conducting a survey concerning such relationships. APPOINTMENTS AS Mayor Rowland announced that his office was accepting POLICE OFFICERS: applications for appointments as Police Officers in the City of Palm Beach Gardens. Thereupon, a discussion ensued con- cerning the formulation of a Volunteer Police Reserve. The Council decided that it would not initiate such a reserve, but would cooperate with interested parties in such a program.
