HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 032364r CITY OF PALM REACH GARDENS MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, MARCH 23, 1964 The regular meeting of the City Council was held at 9076 Keating Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday, March 23, 1964, at 10:00 A.M. gUORUM: The Vice Mayor Horace S. Miller called the meeting to order and announced that a quorum of the City Council was present. MINUTES OF MEETINGS The City Clerk read in full the minutes of the meetings of the OF MARCH , AND MARCH ; City Council held on March 9, 1964, and on March 11, 1964. Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted these minutes were approved as written. APPOINTMENT OF The Vice Mayor advised the City Council that the City had re- NORMAN W. LATSCHAR AS POLICE UFF=: Gently employed Mr. Norman W. Latschar as a police officer. He re- commended that this appointment be ratified and affirmed. Whereupon, the following resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS that Norman W. Latschar be, and the same hereby is, appointed as Police Officer of the City of Palm Beach Gardens. OATH OF OFFICE: The oath of office of Norman W. Latschar as police officer is attached hereto. GENERAL ORDINANCE Vice Mayor Miller informed the City Council that, at his in- NO. 7 AS AMENDED AND struction, legal counsel had prepared an amendment to General ORDINANCE: Ordinance No. 7 - Animal and Fowl Ordinance. Whereupon he presented the Amended Ordinance to the Council, and the same was read in full for the first time by the City Clerk. PALM BEACH GARDENS The City Council was presented with a letter concerning liability VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT; insurance protection for the Palm Beach Gardens Volunteer Fire P PD�;HGETS: Department. It was recommended that the City undertake to secure i such liability insurance protection for the Fire Department, and to pay any and all premiums for such coverage. Vice Mayor Miller at this time presented a proposed budget for the Fire Department for the years 1964 -1965 and 1965 -1966. The City Council agreed to take these budget requests under advisement. KHOURY LEAGUE: The City Clerk read a letter from the Khoury League requesting financial assistance from the City. The City Council agreed to take the matter under advisement. PALM BEACH GARDENS Captain Charley A. Root read in full the report of the Palm POLICE REPORT FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY,1964: Beach Gardens Police Department for the month of February, 1964. MISCELLANEOUS: The City Council was informed that the Home Owners' Association is undertaking a study of land requirements for recreational purposes. Vice Mayor Miller announced that a registration of Freeholders will commence shortly after published notice. Additional items were also discussed at this meeting concerning a developer's trailer, un- finished houses, telephone solicitations, etc. NEXT MEETING: Vice Mayor Miller announced that a special meeting of the City Council would be held at 10:00 o'clock on Wednesday, March 24, 1964, at 1001 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, for the express pur- pose of the second reading and enactment of General Ordinance No. 7 As Amended.
