MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
HELD ON MONDAY: MAY 112 1964
The regular meeting of the City Council was held at the Howell
Watkins Junior High School, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday,
May 11, 1964, at 8:00 P.M.
QUORUM: Mayor Norman D. Rowland called the meeting to order. The City
Clerk called the roll of City Commissioners and announced that a
quorum of the City Council was present.

The City Clerk read in full the Minutes of the meeting of the

City Council of April 27, 1964. Upon motion duly made, seconded and
unanimously adopted these Minutes were approved as written.

REZONING OF
The City Council was advised that American Airmotive Corporation had

petitioned the Council to rezone certain lots in Plat No. 1, Palm Beach

Garden Estates, namely Lots 1 to 7, both inclusive, Block 12, and Lots 1

to 30, both inclusive, Block 1, from Zone "R -1" to Zone "R -2 ". This
petition is attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A ". In
addition, the City Council had received a petition from Royal American
Industries, Inc. requesting the reclassification of a portion of Section 7,
Township 42 South, Range 43 East, from Zone "R -1" to Zone'R -2 ". This
petition is also attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "B ".

After discussion on the merits of these petitions, Mayor Norman Rowland
stated that municipal counsel had prepared an Ordinance effecting these
proposed changes in the Zoning Code and Zoning Map, and called for a first
reading of that Ordinance.
PROPOSED ORDIN- The City Clerk then read in full the proposed Amendment to the Zoning
ANCE "1 -H ";FIRST
Ordinance tentatively numbered "1 -H" for the first time; and upon motion
duly made, seconded and unanimously passed, it was resolved that notice of
hearing on the proposed Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance be given in
accordance with the statute in such cases provided. It was further re-
solved that a public hearing be held on said Amendment no sooner than
four weeks from the date of this meeting, and that this Amendment to the
Zoning Ordinance be referred to the Council as a Zoning Board for further
examination and study.
CORRESPONDENCE:
The City Clerk read in full eight letters which had been received by
the City Council since its last regular meeting.

COUNSEL ;AUTHOR- Gardens, Inc. made in letters just read by the City Clerk, the City Council

MENT: felt it advisable to act upon the following Resolution which was read in
full by the City Clerk:
WHEREAS, the City Council has recently received certain letters
from the Homeowners' Association of Palm Beach Gardens, Inc, re-
questing that the City Council supply legally sufficient proof
of the authenticity and legality of its actions, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED That the City Council of Palm Beach
Gardens retain the services of legal counsel to study and make a
report of the activity of the City Council apparently under attack
and that said report be submitted to the City Council, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Treasurer be, and the same is
hereby authorized, to pay any and all reasonable costs and expenses
for such Legal services out of the general funds of the City, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens
adjourn the present meeting and reconvene, at the call of the Mayor,
upon seven (7) days notice by publication in a local newspaper, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That any resolutions, agreements, or arrange -
ments, or parts thereof, contrary to or inconsistent with this
Resolution be, and are hereby repealed forthwith.
After a lengthy discussion, and upon motion duly made and seconded
the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted, Vice Mayor Miller abstaining.
Accordingly, the meeting was duly adjourned.

Gentlemen:
American Airmotive Corporation, a Florida corporation, respectfully
shows that it is the owner under contract of sale of the following described
lots located in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach County, Florida,
to -wit:
Lots 1 to 7, both inclusive, Block 12, and Lots 1 to 30, both
inclusive, all in Block 1, all in Plat No. 1, Palm Beach Garden
Estates, City of Palm Beach Gardens, according to the plat thereof
recorded in Plat Book 26, Pages 188 and 189, Palm Beach County
Public Records, Florida.
Your petitioner respectfully requests that the Zoning Ordinance and
Map of the City be amended by changing the Zone Classification of the above
described property from Zone "R -1" to Zone "R -2 ".

Gentlemen:
Royal American Industries, Inc., a Delaware corporation duly licensed
to do business in Florida, respectfully shows that it is the owner in fee of
the following described land located in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Palm
Beach County, Florida, to -wit:
Being a parcel of land situated in Section 7, Township 42 South, Range
43 East, lying between the Westerly Right of Way of Riverside Drive and
the Easterly Right of Way of Thompson River, in the City of Palm Beach
Gardens, being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the easterly Right of Way of
the Thompson River, 100 feet wide, with the South line of Section 7,
Township 42 South, Range 43 East as shown on Plat No. 5, City of Palm
Beach Gardens as recorded in Plat Book 27, Pages 94 and 95, Public Records

TO THE CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS OF PALM BEACH GARDENS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE That on the 8th day of June, 1964, at 10 :00 o'clock
A.M., at 9076 Keating Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a meeting will be
held by the City Council of PALM BEACH GARDENS, also acting as a Zoning
Board, for the purpose of amending the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map of the
City of PALM BEACH GARDENS, and in particular to reclassify and rezone
certain parcels of lands located in Plat No. 1, Palm Beach Garden Estates, and
in Section 7, Township 42 South, Range 42 East, Palm Beach County, Florida,
from Zone "R -1" to Zone "R -2 ".
That the said Ordinance is on record at the address above set forth, and
may be examined for particulars.
