HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 121464CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1964 The regular meeting of the City Council was held at the Howell Watkins Junior High School, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on Monday, December 14, 1964, at 8:00 P.M. UORUM: Vice Mayor Horace S. Miller called the meeting to order. The City Clerk called the roll of City Commissioners and announced that a quorum of the City Council was present. MINUTES OF Reading of the Minutes of the regular meeting of the City Council MEETINGS OF OCT- OBER 26, 19641 held on October 26, 1964, as well as the Minutes of the special meetings OCTOBER 28, 1964 and NF�5, of the City Council held on October 28, 1964 and November 5, 1964, was dispensed. Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, these Minutes were approved as written. CORRESPONDENCE: The City Clerk read in full four letters which had been received, namely a letter from the Board of Public Instruction dated November 5, 1964, two letters from the Palm Beach Gardens Homeowners Association dated, respectively, November 16, 1964 and December 9, 1964, and a letter from the Legislative Council of the State of Florida dated November 30, 1964. The latter letter referred to a meeting that was held on Decem- ber 10, 1964, and attended by Captain Charlie A. Root. Captain Root then gave his report on this meeting. PURCHASE OF Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, the action LaFRANCE PUMPER FOR PALM BEACH of the City Council in purchasing a La France Pumper for the Palm Beach GARDENS VOLUN- TEER FIRE Gardens Volunteer Fire Department for the sum of $2,800.00 was ratified DEPARTMENT: �, and affirmed. Minutes of Regular Meeting of City Council of December 14, 1964 Page 2 u REGISTRATION The Vice Mayor commented on the course of the present registration OF ELECTORS; RATIFICATION of electors and freeholders within the City of Palm Beach Gardens. He OF APPOINT- MENT OF DEPUTY informed the City Council that Louise F. Brewer, Annette N. Blattner, SUPERVISORS OF REGISTRATION: Alma K. Metz and Evelyn C. Devine had been appointed as Deputy Super- visors of Registration, and that these appointments should be ratified. Whereupon, the following resolution was made, seconded and unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Palm Beach Gardens that the appointment of Louise F. Brewer, Annette N. Blattner, Alma K. Metz and Evelyn C. Devine as Deputy Supervisors of Registration be, and the same is hereby, ratified and affirmed. OATHS OF The oaths of office of Louise F. Brewer, Annette N. Blattner, Alma OFFICE: K. Metz and Evelyn C. Devine as Deputy Supervisors of Registration are 1—.1 attached hereto. CIVIL DEFENSE: Civil Defense Director Richard W. Denmore presented to the City Council a Civil Defense Master Plan. This plan provided for the appoint- ment of officials to carry out a civil defense program. The following resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of PALM BEACH GARDENS that the master plan,as prepared by Civil Defense Director Richard W. Denmore be, and the same hereby is, ratified and approved, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Civil Defense Director Richard W. Denmdre, Vice Mayor Horace S. Miller and City Clerk William L. Cargill be, and the same hereby are, authorized and empowered to make all necessary appointments of persons whose services are required in order to put this master plan into operation. r Minutes of Regular Meeting of City Council of December 14, 1964 Page 3 ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the meeting, upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted, it was duly adjourned.
