HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 020763CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL �J FEBRUARY 7, 1963 SPECIAL Upon call of the Mayor, a special meeting of the City Council of Palm MEETING: Beach Gardens was held at 3:00 o'clock P.M. on Thursday, February 7, 1963, at the municipal office of said City, 1001 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida. QUORUM: The City Clerk announced that a quorum of the City Council was present. GENERAL The Mayor advised the City Council that, in order to complete negotia- HOSPITA L: tions for the construction of a 75 -bed acute general hospital in the City of Palm Beach Gardens, it would be necessary to empower officers of the City with authority to obligate the City in that respect. Accordingly, the following resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: WHEREAS, the City of Palm Beach Gardens desires to construct, own, and operate a 75 -bed acute general hospital within the territorial limits of the City of Palm Beach Gardens; and WHEREAS, said hospital will be operated within the territorial limits of the City of Palm Beach Gardens as a publicly -owned hospital; and WHEREAS, the City of Palm Beach Gardens passed a resolution at a special meeting of the City Council held on November 13, 1962, which authorized the Mayor and City Clerk to take such action as is necessary to provide for financing under the provisions of Chapter 180 of the Florida Statutes applicable to said municipal financing; and WHEREAS, the City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in the interests of completing all necessary action for the City to construct, own and operate a 75 -bed acute general hospital within the territorial limits of the City of Palm Beach Gardens; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to clothe certain officials with authority to contract for, bind and obligate the City in such venture. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT i The Mayor, NORMAN D. ROWLAND, or the Vice Mayor, HORACE S. MILLER, acting singularly and individually with the attestation to their signatures of the City Clerk, W.L. CARGILL, or ALICE GARY or JAMES WOOTEN, Deputy City Clerks, be and they are hereby authorized to contract for, bind and obligate the City for the construction, ownership and operation of said hospital. Said officials are directed and authorized to take any action necessary to enter into, complete plans for said hospital and obligate the City for said hospital in lime with and in accordance with said Resolution of November 13, 1962, and the Florida and United States Statutes. APPOINTMENT The Mayor recommended to the Council that James Wooten be appointed OF DEPUTY CITY CLERK: as a Deputy City Clerk inasmuch as he was well qualified for that position. Whereupon, the following Resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: 1` BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Palm Beach Gardens that James Wooten be, and the same hereby is, appointed as Deputy City Clerk of Palm Beach Gardens, effective immediately. OATH OF OFFICE: The oath of office of James Wooten as Deputy City Clerk is attached hereto. There being no further business to come before the meeting, it was duly adjourned, By his signature to these minutes, each Councilman hereby waives notice of this meeting and confirms his affirmative vote to the actions recorded in these minutes.
