HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 120362CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 1962 The regular meeting of the City Council was held at 1001 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, on Monday, December 3, 1962, at 10:00 o'clock A.M. QUORUM: The City Clerk announced that a quorum of the City Council was present. PROPOSED The Acting Mayor advised the Council that on October 26, 1962 it ORDINANCE O -D(1); had enacted ORDINANCE O -D which expressed an intention on the part ANNEXATION OF of the CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS to annex certain parcels of UPTHEGROVE, FROEHLICH realty located in Palm Beach County, Florida, and identified in said AND THOMPSON Ordinance as the Upthegrove, Froehlich, and Thompson Tracts, to the TRACTS: City. That Ordinance provided that actual annexation should take place shortly after thirty (30) days from date of enactment; and the thirty day period had expired. Further, the City Clerk had published notice of the City's inten- tion to annex these realty in accordance with law in such cases provided, and had been served with no formal objections to such annexation. Municipal counsel had prepared an Ordinance providing for the annexation of the aforesaid tracts, tentatively numbered ORDINANCE O -D(1). Whereupon, and after further discussion, the Clerk read the proposed Ordinance in full for the first time. SERVICE The Acting Mayor advised the Council that his office had been presented AGREEMENT WITH with and had made a careful study of, a proposed Service Agreement between FLORIDA GAS TRANS- Florida Gas Transmission Company and the City of PALM BEACH GARDENS, MISSION COMPANY: a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof. The same having been found to be in order, on November 27, 1962, the Acting Mayor and City �.i Clerk executed the said agreement in behalf of the City. Regular Meeting of City Council Palm Beach Gardens December 3, 1962 (continued) u RESOLUTION Whereupon, the following Resolution was duly made, seconded, and RATIFYING AND unanimously adopted: AFFIRMING SERVICE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS THAT AGREE- the City of PALM BEACH GARDENS, in common council con - MENT: vened, does hereby ratify and affirm that certain Service Agree- ment by and between FLORIDA GAS TRANSMISSION COMPANY and the City of PALM BEACH GARDENS dated September 13, 1962, and the same is hereby ratified and affirmed in all respects. APPOINTMENT The Acting Mayor advised the Council that it was advisable to appoint OF POLICE OFFICER: an additional person as a Police Officer, and that William J. Reichard was well qualified for the position. Whereupon, and after further discussion, the following Resolution was duly made, seconded and unanimously adopted: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS That William J. Reichard be, and the same hereby is, appointed as Police Officer of the City of Palm Beach Gardens. OATH OF The oath of office of William J. Reichard as Police Officer of the OFFICE: City will be attached hereto. FLORIDA The Council was advised that the Office of the Comptroller, State of TAX ASSESSORS` Florida, has prepared a manual for use as a guide by municipal tax assessors MANUAL: in assessing real and personal property within the jurisdiction of the City. This manual would be of great assistance to the Tax Assessor of PALM BEACH GARDENS, and so should be adopted by the City as a guide for his office. Whereupon, and after discussion, the following Resolution was duly made, seconded, and unanimously adopted: `✓ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS THAT the Florida Tax Assessors' Manual be, and the same is hereby, adopted as a reference guide for use by the Tax Assessor of Palm Beach Gardens.
