HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes Council 050261AOL CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL - TUESDAY, NAY 2nd, 1961 A meeting of the City Council was held at 1001 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, on Tuesday, the 2nd day of May, 1961, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. The meeting was called to order by the Mayor. SUM: The Clerk declared a quorum of the City Council.present. PROCEDURE The Mayor advised the Council that by virtue of the Charter of the FOR APPOINT- City and the statutes of the State of Florida, in such cases pro - RENT OF vided, that the Mayor with the consent of the Council may appoint CHIEF OF such police force as may be necessary to insure peace, good order POLICE- and observance of law within the municipal limits of Palm Beach Gardens; and that the compensation of the ,police is to be regulated by the Council. 0„UALIFICATION5 The qualifications of Lindsey Jarrell, to be Chief of Police, OF were discussed. He is 33 years of age, a resident of Monroe LINDSEY JARRELL: Heights, Riviera Beach, Florida, and presently employed by Garden Construction Company at Palm Beach Gardens. He has agreed to act as Chief of Police, without compensation, until such time as the population of Palm Beach Gardens shall require the service of a full time policeman. The Council, after discussion of Mr. Jarrell's quali- fications adopted the following resolution: APPOINTMENT: Upon resolution, seconded and unanimously adopted, Lindsey Jarrell ° was appointed Chief of Police of the City of Palm Beach Gardens without compensation until such time as the population of Palm Beach Gardens shall require the services of a full time policeman, and the Mayor was em-' powered to enter into any contracts necessary to provide such equipment as may be necessary for the official operation of a Police Department, and to set up a budget, therefor.
