MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL - JUNE 26th, 1961
The regular meeting of the City Council was held at 1001 Park
Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, on Monday, June 26th, 1961 at 10:00 o'clock
A. M.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
QUORUM: It was announced by the Clerk that a quorum of the City Council was
present.
REZONING The Mayor advised the Council -

PROPETiTY: 1. That certain land in the Southeast Quarter (SE') of Section 13,
by reason of its recent annexation to the City became automati-
cally classified as R -1.
2. That the western border of subject property is bounded by Military
Trail as extended; which is currently being opened by the County northward
for a distance of three miles; and is planned to be an alternative outlet
for the RCA plant, and possibly a cut -off road for U. S. 1 freight trucks.
3. That the land bordering on the aforesaid Lake Park Vest Road and
hilitary Trail has been changing, and has changed in character so that its
most appropriate use is no longer single residence. In fact, the Federal
Housing Administration has indicated that such property is not acceptable
for Federal Housing Administration approved houses due to the traffic den-
sity on Military Trail, as extended, and Lake Park West Road.
40 Bankers Life and Casualty Company, as Vendor, and John Brennan
Realty Company have petitioned the City to rezone a strip of property in
Section 13, along Lake Park West Road and turning northward on Military
Trail, as extended, to zone C -2. In support of their petition they have

produced tentative plans for the commercial development of the subject
property. A map of the property involved has been filed with the Clerk
and is present for examination.
5. That counsel for the municipality has prepared an ordinance
affecting such amendment to the Zoning Code, which is incorporated here-
in by reference thereto.
The Clerk then read the proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance
tentatively numbered "1 -E" for the first time, and upon motion duly made,
seconded and unanimously passed, it was resolved that notice of hearing on
the proposed amended zoning ordinance be given in accordance "with the
statute in such cases provided, and that a public hearing.be held on said
Amendment on the 17th day of July 1961, at 10:00 o'clock A. M. at 1001
• Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, and that said amendment to the Zoning
Ordinance be referred to the Council acting as a Zoning Board for further
examination and study.
ADOPTION OF The Mayor advised the Council that motor vehicle traffic had

TRAFFIC ORDINANCE increased to the extent in the City of Palm Beach Gardens
that a traffic ordinance was required and that an ordinance
had been prepared adopting the model traffic ordinance for
municipalities as provided by Charter 186 of the Florida Statutes for the year
of 1959 and as amended, entitled: "Florida Model Traffic Ordinance" tenta-
tively numbered General Ordinance 2.
The Clerk then read ordinance tentatively numbered General Ordinance
No. 2, for the first time and upon motion duly made and seconded it was
resolved that the proposed ordinance be referred back to the Council for
• further examination and study.
RECIULATION OF The Mayor further advised the Council that a petition had

BEVERAGES the bowling alley on Lark& Park West Road and the holder
of a liquor license from the City of Palm Beach Gardens
requesting an ordinance regulating the time of sale of intoxicating
beverages on the premises as permitted municipalities by Florida Statute
and that an ordinance tentatively numbered General Ordinance 3, entitled:
"Alcoholic Bevarage Law" had been prepared.
The Clerk then read ordinance tentatively numbered General Ordi-
nance No. 3, for the first time and upon motion duly made it was
RESOLVED That the proposed ordinance be referred to the
Council acting as a Zoning Board for further examination
and study.
There being no further matters before the Council the meeting was
adjourned.

TRACT "A"
A tract of land in the Southeast Quarter (SE) of Section 13,
Township 42 South, Range 42 East, Palm Beach County, Florida, more
particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at the point of intersection of the northerly right -of-
way line of Lake Park West Road (State Road No. 809A) with a line paral-
lel to and 150 feet westerly from (measured at right angles -to) the
east line of said Section 13; thence westerly along said northerly right -
of -way line of Lake Park West Road, a distance of 71040 feet to a point
in the easterly right -of -way line of Keating Drive, as said right -of -way
lines are shown on the plat of Palm Beach Square, Unit No. 1, recorded
in Plat Book 26, Pages 143 and 144, Public Records of Palm Beach County,
Florida; thence northerly along said easterly right -of -way line of Keat-
ing Drive, a distance of 500 feet to a point in a line parallel to and
500 feet northerly from (measured at right angles to) said northerly
right- of =Way line of Lake Park West Road; thence easterly along said
parallel line, a distance of 710.43 feet, more or less, to a point in
said line parallel to, and 150 feet westerly from the east line of said
Section 13; thence southerly along said parallel line, a distance of
500 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING;
The above described tract of land contains 8.16 ACRES.

From the Quarter Section Corner in the south line of Section 13,
run N.0 018130 "E. along the North -South Quarter Section line of Section
13, a distance of 350 feet to the Point of Beginning of the tract of
land hereinafter described, thence continue .N.0018'30 "E along said
Quarter Section line, a distance of 399.24 feet; thence East along a
line parallel to the south line of said Section 13, a distance of 811.41
feet; thence S.0019145 "W., a distance of 376.77 feet; thence S 41028152 "E.,
a distance of 30 feet, more or less, to a point in a line parallel to
and 350 feet northerly from (measured at right angles to) the south line
of said Section 13, thence East along said parallel line, said line being
the westerly extension of the south line of Lot 1, Block 45, Unit No. 1,
Palm Beach Square, recorded in Plat Book 26, pages 143 and 144, Public
Records of Palm Beach County, Florida, a distance of 850.02 feet; more or
less, to the westerly right of way line of Keating Drive as shown on said
Unit No. 1; thence S.6019'30 11W. along said right of way line, a distance
of 300 feet to a point in the northerly right of way line of Lake Park
West Road (State Road No. 809A), said northerly right of way line being
parallel to and 50 feet north of the south line of said Section 13; thence
West along said right of way line, a distance of 1331.19 feet, thence
N.0018'30 "E. a distance of 300 feet; thence West, a distance of 350 feet,
more or less, to the Point of Beginning.
NOTICE OF AMENDMENT OF ZONING ORDINANCE AND ZONING MAP
STATE OF FLORIDA
CITY OF PAL14 BEACH GARDENS
TO THE CITIZENS AND RESIDENTS OF PALM BEACH GARDENS:
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE That on the'l7th day of July 1961, at 10:00 o'clock
A. M. at 1001 Park Avenue, Lake Park, Florida, a meeting will be held by the
City Council of PALM BEACH GARDENS, also acting as a Zoning Board, for the
purpose of amending the Zoning Law and Zoning Map of the CITY OF PALM BEACH
GARDENS, and im particular to reclassify and rezone a certain area of land
lying along and bordering Lake Park West Road from Zone R -1 to Zone C -2.
That said proposed Ordinance is on record at the address above set
forth, and may be examined for the particulars of the Amendment and its re-
lationship to the Zoning Ordinance.
This Notice is further given for the purpose of ratifying the Zoning
Map and Zoning Ordinance of the CITY OF PALM BEACH GARDENS, and as amended.
