Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Dear Wayne,
It is with decidedly mixed emotions that I tender my resignation as a Member of the Palm
Beach Gardens School Advisory Board, effective immediately.
I can’t tell you and the other Members of the Board how grateful I am for the opportunity
to have been a part of such a dynamic organization. There is no more important issue
that we face as a community than the education of our children. The dedicated members
of the Advisory Board are and will remain instrumental in keeping the community
abreast of the issues that the students and faculty members in our school district face
everyday. I know that you will continue to make education a top priority in our city.
Again, I thank you and the Members of the Board for allowing me to be a part of the
education experience in Palm Beach Gardens.
Sincerely,
John Gardner
CC. Eric Jablin
Cheryl McQuiston
Jennifer Holdt
PS. I have accepted a position with WCI Communities, Inc. and will be relocating to the
Naples-Bonita Springs area. Let’s stay in touch.

The Eldred Junior-Senior High School is committed to recognizing
the special things that our students do! To that end, student
recognition has become an integral part of student life. There are
now four sfudent recognition programs that any student in grades
7-72 can strive for.
ECS CAPS
Eldred Central School Community A wards Program for Students
Each month of the school year, students who are "caught doing something right" will
be recognized by the school community. 15 (plus) students each month will be
award recipients and will receive awards from the school and the business
community. Additionally, this group of students and their parents will be treated to a
special awards breakfast sponsored by the Sullivan County BOCES Career and
Technical education program. A breakfast will take place in the career and tech
dining hall and will be prepared by students from all over the county.
ECS MISAS
Most Improved Subject Area Student
This program is geared towards students being recognized, in any subject area, for
improvement, as per teacher discretion. Each marking period, students, and their
parents, will be invited to attend a special breakfast in the cafeteria with the building
principal and the Superintendent of Schools. At this breakfast, each student will
receive a special certificate for their improvement. Teachers will be asked to keep a
close eye on improvement at all student levels of achievement.
STUDENT OF THE WEEK
This new student recognition program involves students who, on a weekly basis are
nominated for committing an act that improves some aspect of the Eldred Junior-
Senior High School. Students may be nominated by any school community member.
Each week, there will be one student winner. That student will have his or her
picture posted next to the principal's office for the entire week.
PRINCIPAL'S AWARD FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE
Students who have attained perfect attendance for each marking period will receive
special award recognition from the principal. Students who continue to receive
perfect attendance throughout their school careers will be recognized and awarded.
STUDENT PERSISTENCE AWARD
This award took place for the first time in May 2003. The Student
Persistence Award was born out of the efforts of individual students and members of
the Building Leadership Team who wanted to see a new award that addressed hard-
working students who maintained steady grades and exhibited positive behaviors to
go along with their hard work. This award will coincide with the ECS MISAS awards
ceremony.

students enter the National Merit Program by
taking the PSAT/NMSQT - a test which serves
