SUBJECT: PUDA -12 -08 -000042 Staff Comments – LA Fitness Plaza Signage Amendment
The following comments are based on the Development Application submitted on August 10 ,
2012 , a nd found sufficient on August 17 , 2012 .
Building Department
No comments at this time. Please be advised that building permits will be required for the
proposed signage.
Fire Department
No comments at this time.
Police Department
No comments at this time.
Planning and Zoning Department
1. Per Section 78 -285, Table 24, Roof Signs for Buildings with Mansard/Hip Roofs , the subject
sig n must consist of individually mounted letters. The proposed exhib its are shown to be
mounted as a cabinet sign. Please revise the submitted exhibits to be in compliance with this
provision.
2. Per Section 78 -285, Table 24, Roof Signs for Buildings with Ma nsard/Hip Roofs , the roof
sign supports must be painted to match the roof color. Please include a note on the revised
exhibits demonstrating compliance with this provision.
3. Per Section 78 -285, Table 24, Wall sign for ground floor uses , all signs are requi red to
maintain uniform type, color, material, shape and style. The proposed sign is not consistent
with the existing signs located throughout the plaza. Please modify the signage exhibit in
compliance with this provision.

4. The Applicant requested a waive r from Section 78 -285, Table 24, Wall sign for ground floor
uses , to allow a 120 square foot sign. T he maximum allowable copy area is 70 square feet.
Staff is not supportive of this waiver request.

The A pplicant shall provide a written response to all comments, indicating how each
comment has been addressed and/or acknowledgement of each comment . Compliance will
expedite the subsequent review. It is suggested that th e applicant clearly identify all changes
to the plans by either “clouding”, or highlighting, the location of all changes to further
expedite the review.
City staff reserves the right to make additional comments throughout the review process.
