PROCLAMATION
Declaring the month of March as Women's History Month
WHEREAS, Women of every race, economic class and ethnic background have made countless
recorded and unrecorded historic contributions to the City of Palm Beach Gardens, the state of
Florida, our nation and the global community; and
WHEREAS, these contributions have been critical to the growth and development of our City in
economic matters, cultural artistic achievements, social advancement, quality of life and all areas of
accomplishment; and
WHEREAS, despite the innumerable contributions women have and continue to make, too little
is known or taught about the significant impact women have made to our collective national history;
and.
WHEREAS, the theme ofthe National Woman's History Project for 2006, "Women: Builders of
Communities and Dreams," honors the spirit of possibility and hope set in motion by generations of
women; and
WHEREAS, In 1980 President Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation calling on
Americans to remember the contributions of women, and in accordance with precedence set by
Congress and the President in 1987, March has each year been declared as national Women's
History Month by the President of the United States; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Joseph Russo, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the
City of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, do hereby proclaim the month of March, 2006 as
Women's History Month
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my
hand and caused the Seal of the City of Palm
Beach Gardens, Florida, to be affixed on this 2nd
day of March in the Year of our Lord, Two
