TREES
Size: lb 100 feet x 18 feet at base, often leaning.
Form: Vertical, strongly erect pyramid with 5 lateral branches occuring in each tier
geometrically.
Texture: Fine
Leaf: Mature leaves somewhat triangular and densely overlapping, dark green.
Branch interval 1 to 2 feet.
Flower: Insignificant catkin.
Fruit: Cones 3 to 6 inches in diameter, almost globular.
Geographic
Location: South Pacific on Norfolk Island. South Florida to Cape Canaveral on coast.
Dormant: Evergreen
Culture: Tblerant to a wide range of soils, best with extra moisture and good drainage
in full sun. No pests. Absolutely salt- resistant, even in frontal dune areas.
Use: Wide open spaces such as parks, golf courses in roughs between fairways.
Is most effective in mountainous background regions. Do not use in one -story
residential areas. Does get wind- damaged in hurricanes.
Other: A. columnaris (cooki), tall almost fastigiate pyramid.
