The follow account of this meeting is based on notes taken by City staff liaison.] The April 3, 2006, regular meeting of the PBG B &E Committee has called to order by Donna Wisneski at 5:40 P.M. in the Growth Management Department meeting room of the Municipal Complex located at 10500 North Military Trail, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The following members were in attendance: Connie Premuroso, Jeff Renault, Betty Marks, William Olsen, Richard Beladino and Donna Wisneski. City Council Liaison David Clark and Staff Liaison Mark Hendrickson were present. Approval of the minutes: The February 6, 2002 and March 6, 2002 meeting minutes were approved. Items by the City Council Liaison and Staff Liaison No comments. Old Business a) Environmental Assessment presentation by Environmental Consultant Jim Schnelle: Jim passed out the standard environmental assessment (EA) checklist and went over the submittal information required. The sample EA used during the presentation was for the Kolter Tract located within the Regional Center PCD. The discussion lasted approximately 35 minutes with many questions. Mr. Schnelle also addressed some questions and concerns about native wildlife protection. In his packet of information, he included FFWCC internet printouts on the Armadillo, Opossum and Raccoon. The Committee members were particularly interested in the statements that related to relocation of non - protected animals, such as: "Relocating wildlife is seldom biologically sound." "Armadillos are not considered native to Florida and are, therefore, illegal to transport and release." "It is unlawful to relocate wildlife to public land." "A landowner may lawfully live -trap some nuisance wildlife, but may not be relocated without an FWC permit and permission from the private property owner." The Committee came to a conclusion that changing the existing City codes to help protect non - listed wildlife would not be necessary at this time based on the facts presented by Mr. Schnelle, and City staff. However, there will continue to be nuisances caused by wildlife that are displaced by new development. The Committee felt that information needed to get out to the residents about how to deal with urban wildlife humanely. The Committee also felt that not enough was being done to educate the residents on the location of the City's preserve areas and wildlife corridors. The Committee agreed to start work on a Palm Beach Gardens Preserve Area brochure. Mark would look into the funding for such a brochure. New Business Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 7PM. The next meeting will be May 1, 2002.
