I. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE II. ROLL CALL Members Present: Donna Wisneski, Chair Terence Brady, Vice Chair David Anderson Frances Heaslip Sherry Levy Donald Krzan, 2nd Alternate Members Absent: Albert Jacob Donald Brown, 1 st Alternate Also Present: Jody Barnett, Council Member, Council Liaison Mark Hendrickson, City Forester, Staff Liaison III. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS Mark Hendrickson, City Forester, Staff Liaison, announced Gail Vastola, Vice Chair, had submitted her resignation from the Community Aesthetics Board effective February 5, 2008. In her absence and the absence of Donald Brown, 1st Alternate, Donald Krzan, 2nd Alternate, joined the Board Members on the dais. • Donna Wisneski, Chair, asked for nominations for the position of Vice Chair. Sherry Levy nominated Terence Brady, seconded by Frances Heaslip and approved by unanimous vote, 6 -0. IV. Comments by the Public Carolyn Chaplik, 715 Hudson Bay Drive, Palm Beach Gardens, expressed her opinion that no money should be given to homeowner or condominium associations. Eileen Tucker, 1045 Shady Lakes Circle, Palm Beach Gardens, expressed her opinion that no money should be given to homeowner or condominium associations and applicants should have to secure more than one bid. Donna Wisneski, Chair, suggested to Mark Hendrickson, City Forester, Staff Liaison, that staff review the application. Mark Hendrickson stated he would go back to City Council since they approved the Resolutions approving the area and the signs. He suggested that the Board move forward since they had denied the application. Donna Wisneski stated the Board did not disapprove the signs; the Board disapproved using City money to pay for them. 4. 9508 N Military Trail, Bradley Gregg: gate, new mailbox, shrubs. Quoted amount of $770.00. Staff recommends 75 percent match of $577.50. Motion for approval of staff recommendation with second, failed, 3 -3. Quoted amount of $7,175.00. Staff recommends maximum match of $5,000.00. Motion for approval of staff recommendation with second, unanimously approved, 6 -0. Board Member Aporove Disaonrove Donna Wisneski ✓ Terence Brady ✓ David Anderson ✓ Frances Heaslip ✓ Sherry Levy ✓ Donald Krzan ✓ Keith Sawyer, 10193 N Military Trail, Palm Garden Condominium, explained the condominium clubhouse suffered serious roof damage during the hurricanes, which took most of the available funds. There are only 32 units and funds are tight. Council Member Jody Barnett spoke on behalf of this project. She stated this kind of repair is what the Military Trail Grant money was intended for. David Anderson expressed his appreciation of Mr. Sawyer coming to speak on behalf of the application. 11. 9334 N Military Trail, Ambrocia Sun: install stone columns, rain gutters, remove tree stump, re -sod and repair sprinkler. Quoted amount of $5,480.00. Staff recommends maximum match of $3,000.00. Extensive discussion ensued regarding the proposed stone columns to be installed on the front of the house, replacing the metal supports. Donald Krzan suggested the Board look ahead to application No. 12 for a more definitive description of the stone columns requested since they were the same as those requested in application No. 11. Motions 1 and 2 were put forth, but ended inconclusively because of misunderstanding of the items to be approved or excluded. Motion 3 for agreement to negate the two previous motions was seconded and unanimously approved, 6 -0.
