CALL TO ORDER 7 II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 8 III. ADDITIONS, DELETIONS, MODIFICATIONS 16 None. 17 V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES from the January 28, 2013 meeting. 18 Board Member Schneider made a motion to approve the January 28, 2013 meeting minutes. 19 Board Member Sonnenreich seconded. 20 Motion passed 5-0. 21 VI. ITEMS BY COUNCIL LIASON 22 Council Liaison, Council Member Tinsley advised the board that the softball, soccer and all of the 23 City’s fields are used a lot and suggested considering artificial turf for the fields to keep them from 24 having down time. 25 Chair Buckley requested an update on the Newtown Connecticut memorial discussed at the 26 January 28, 2013 meeting. 27 Council Liaison, Council Member Tinsley advised there is an upcoming meeting in which the 28 memorial will be discussed. 29 VII. ITEMS BY STAFF LIAISON 30 Recreation Director, Staff Liaison Laura Schuppert advised that the Compassionate Friends 31 Reflective Gardens will be meeting on Wednesday night, May 22, 2013, to talk about the design. 32 VIII. COMMENTS BY THE BOARD 39 Board Member Frohling expressed there have been many events in the last few months in the 40 City and he has heard nothing but positive things. He gave his congratulations to all. 41 A. Irrigation Mainline completed first, followed by greens’ loops, and finally fairway/tee lateral irrigation lines. Irrigation contractor also installed new controller pads and connected power to the controllers. Greens – Stripping & Shaping Site visit from USGA determined that we needed to “scoop” the top three inches of soil from the greens. Portions of greens with previously steep slopes were rebuilt and shaped to accommodate the naturally quicker TifEagle green speeds and to create more pin-able area. Greens – Planting & Grow-in TifEagle sprigs were planted on the greens on July 23rd & 24th. Constant attention and nurturing by maintenance staff was/still is needed for sprigs to mature appropriately. Drainage Numerous new drainage basins have been installed-improved existing Truckloads of dirt/fill have been added to areas with poor drainage. Bunkers Several new bunkers were strategically placed throughout the course. Better golfers will have to think their way around the course more, and higher handicap golfers will potentially be saved by some bunkers. Fairways, Tees, & Green Surrounds Prep-work Fairways and green surrounds were burned, tilled, & shaped according to the architects’ plans. Over 900 truckloads of fill were used on the fairways Tees were burned, shaped, and laser-leveled. Fairways, Tees & Green Surrounds Planting & Grow-in Fairways, tees, and green surrounds are made up of Celebration grass. Celebration sprigs were used on tee tops and throughout fairways. Celebration sod was used on tee slopes, green surrounds, and other steep-sloping areas to prevent washouts from rain. Final sprigs and sod were planted on September 10. Fairways, Tees & Green Surrounds Planting & Grow-in Grassing Pictures as of September 20, 2013: Landscaping and Coquina Landscaping – Many sabal palms, pines, oaks and other native plantings have been installed to give some holes a more defined look. Coquina – A new coquina bed between holes 14 & 16 creates a nice look with functionality in a previously wet, mucky area.
